Methodology
and philosophy
Arbitration & dispute
resolution education is vital to industry practitioners and professionals
today. It is a crucial tool for doing business and managing legal
risks.
For legal and arbitration
practitioners, they are often well versed with hands-on and practical
issues. However, they still require theoretical understanding to correct some or most of their
misunderstanding! This is exactly why academic component is very important. On the other hand, academic
& theoretical elements alone can be idealistic and impractical. Hence,
practical contents are integral part of our courses. We combined the
best of both worlds and this is unique. The development of our courses is
the result of contribution from our members - directors, advisers and
panel arbitrators/mediators; coming from legal, academia and professional
background.
Attendees are called
"Participants", not "students" whereas lecturers are
"Course Leaders". This is basing on our belief that
professionals are not students but participating in a higher form of
learning and education. Likewise we belief that the faculty
members should not teach but engage in leading the learning process.
Our education programmes are Learner Centred
and "Socratic". Instead of "tutor led", participants are encouraged and expected to
be involved in active learning. Even if one choose not to, we will still expect him/her
to.
